These shoes are one of the most versatile pieces of kit to have come out in recent years, and are often wearable both on and off the course. They also deliver style and functionality but, most importantly, are very comfortable to wear. One of the most technology-packed spikeless golf shoes we've tested this year, the Ecco Biom C4 seriously impressed us with its overall comfort, grip, style and breathability. It's built nicely on the foundations of the excellent Biom H4, which carried over into 2022, but the new sneaker style has won our hearts from a style perspective, and the performance is there to match.
The Biom C4 uses Ecco's Exhaust Grid technology that scoops fresh air towards the sole of the foot to keep it cool. This, combined with Gore-Tex surround and breathable Ortholite insole, makes this the most breathable shoe by some stretch. Another excellent touch from Ecco is that the insole is removable to allow for more width in the shoe. This will make the Biom C4 suitable for those with wider feet, and there is still the same amount of comfort and cushioning with the first insole removed.
It's certainly a step in the more athletic direction for an Ecco shoe, and we think this aesthetic move will attract golfers of all ages - these are some of the best-looking golf shoes this year.

The brilliant adidas Codechaos has an all-new look. It's similarly bold to the 2020 model but now comes with a new wraparound outsole that adds a unique look as well as more grip and stability. It's a super comfortable golf shoe too, one of those that you forget you are wearing, such is the nature of the comfort, support and grip on offer.
It features adidas' Boost technology throughout the entire shoe - a technology we have become familiar with in the similarly excellent adidas Tour 360 22 and adidas Rebelcross golf shoes. As advertised by the brand, the Boost midsole gives instant comfort and the Codechaos 22 shoes took no time at all to break-in.

We weren't just impressed with the crossover style of the Charged Phantom SL, but also the snug fit that it provided. It has a Storm Flat Knit Collar around the ankle, which provides a locked-in feel whilst also being extremely comfortable. There is also a TPU infused yarn which is wrapped around the toe of the shoe and, once again, that provided a secure feeling.
The traction of the shoe is superb and performed well when we tested it on a damp driving range and, certainly, the Charged Phantom SL is one of the best Under Armour golf shoes on the market, as it provides great value for money with a premium performance.

One of the best summer golf shoes available, the Nike Roshe G Next Nature offers bags of comfort in a supremely lightweight and breathable package. It boasts a classic style and comes in five cool colorways that will appeal to all kinds of players including those that want to stand out and those that want a more understated look on the course. during our testing sessions with these shoes, we found they delivered bags of comfort and were very spongey underfoot. Combine that with their lightweight mesh upper and these really are one of the most comfortable golf shoes around!
On first looks, the grip on these shoes doesn't look to be that comprehensive, but in fact it really delivered. We didn't slip once when wearing these shoes, even when testing them in wetter conditions. They are a very versatile shoe aswell, with the Roshes looking great paired with any outfit and be worn in your day-to-day too, not just on the golf course. The one thing to note is these are primarily a summer golf shoe and do not perform well at all in the rain. But they aren't meant to, and are designed to keep your feet cool and ventilated in warmer days on the course. If you do want a waterproof sneaker, then check out our guide to the best winter golf shoes.

Cole Haan is a brand some may be unfamiliar with but, in the last few years, they have started delving into the golf footwear market, with models like this, the ZeroGrand Overtake, providing golfers with a sporty and lightweight feel that has ultimate comfort.
In testing, we found the shoes to be extremely lightweight which translated to a very comfortable feeling on the foot with extremely little foot fatigue after walking 18 holes. If a lightweight shoe is top of your priority list then we would recommend looking no further than this. To add to the overall comfort, there is also the impressive GrandFoam midsole, which is soft and full of cushion, almost like a memory foam mattress.
Aesthetically, the golf shoes are more like a sneaker design, which will suit those golfers who are after a more casual look. What's more, they are water resistant rather than fully waterproof, which means light droplets of water will easily wick off the top of the upper, but sustained heavy rainfall will ultimately penetrate the shoes. This makes them a perfect choice for the summer.

G/FORE G.112 Golf Shoes

The G/FORE G.112 golf shoes are a versatile and comfortable golf sneaker that offer up superb aesthetics as well as plenty of performance. Having put these to the test on the golf course, we really enjoyed what this package delivered with the G.112's being some of the best casual golf shoes on the market. Similar to many of the best G/FORE golf shoes they boast a unique design that sets them apart from many of the other fantastic options on this list. The leather upper combines seamlessly with the spongey midsole to deliver a fantastic looking shoe that we think will look great worn in social settings as well as the golf course.
The shoe's outsole also offers plenty of traction in damp and dry ground. We think it'd be a great sneaker to wear in the summer, with the internal mesh lining offering up plenty of ventilation. And don't worry if you do get caught in the rain either! This shoe is 100% waterproof, akin to many of the best waterproof golf shoes in the game right now.
Lastly, the highlight here was perhaps the comfort on offer. The interior is cushioned and feels superb, with your feet being supported by plenty of padding that will prevent any rubbing or annoying blisters. The built-in mesh lining on this shoe also means they offer plenty of ventilation, making the G.112's a great option to wear during the summer months.

Puma Ignite Elevate Golf Shoe

Reasons to avoid
The Puma Ignite Elevate golf shoe shares a lot of similarities between the spiked version of this shoe, the Puma Ignite Articulate, which is a good thing, as we thought it was one of the best golf shoes on the market.
Certainly both rank amongst the best Puma golf shoes money can buy, but it's the Elevate we're interested in here, with the shoe providing a premium feel and look. This is thanks to the upper and the black 'cage' area across the shoe, which contrasts the colors nicely, and the fabric 'sock' area near the top of the shoe offers another nice contrast of materials.
Performance-wise, there's nothing to worry about here, as the Ignite Foam in the midsole is one of the best of its kind, and gives both a soft and supportive feeling with plenty of energy return through the swing too. The material used on the inside of the upper - the place where your toes might occasionally push up towards - is also made with a very soft material that makes your foot feel snugly in place.

The fourth generation of the iconic Pro SL range sees some of the comfort we loved from the FootJoy Stratos golf shoe and the brand’s Hyperflex design, added to the midsole of the 2022 Pro SL. Not only does this new addition provide comfort but, thanks to simplified color options, it looks absolutely superb.
In testing, it was hard to fault as, out of the box, it provided great comfort and a sole design which gives plenty of stability out on the golf course, even in the wet and muddy conditions that you will experience in winter golf.
Featuring a lightweight carbon insert for added stability and an ‘Ortholite FitBed’ for customized comfort, you really can't go wrong with the ever reliable Pro SL range, with FooJoy only increasing the versatility of what is a superb all-round performing golf shoe.

Payntr X-003 F Spikeless Golf Shoe
Specifications

Reasons to avoid
The X 003 F golf shoe is a stunning spikeless golf shoe, and was awarded a 4.5-star review when we got the chance to take it out on the golf course. The first thing to talk about here is the technology in this sneaker. Payntr, a brand relatively new to the golf shoe market, have added what they call a propulsion plate to its sole meaning this shoe is built to harness ground forces and deliver greater energy return in your swing and step. That makes it one of the best golf shoes for seniors and one of the best golf shoes for walking, with that energy return helping to keep your feet feeling fresh and unfatigued on the golf course. Couple that with the snug but comfortable fit on the heel and we found the X 003 F creates a 'locked-in' sensation that kept our feet firmly in place throughout our round - something that'll appeal to many different types of player.
Payntr have also clearly paid a lot of attention to the needs of golfers playing in wetter conditions when developing the spikeless outsole here too, which offers the same brilliant grip that we now expect from the best spikeless golf shoes. It is made from TPU nubs with different sizes and shapes dotted across the surface in the areas where particularly faster swinging players will need the most grip most during their swing. The last thing to note here is that the shoe is water-resistant and after a particularly muddy round, we found them very easy to clean.

Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 SL Golf Shoe
Specifications

Reasons to avoid
The new Under Armour HOVR Drive 2 SL, put simply, is a spikeless version of the HOVR Drive 2. This shoe stands out thanks to the spikeless outsole and, as was the case with the outsole on the HOVR Tour SL, Under Armour has once again nailed this aspect.
Using a mixture of plastic and TPU nubs, the brand has created what we think is the most convincing spikeless outsole on the market. Also, we found that the shoe has that brilliant 'locked-in' feeling that is both comfortable and supportive. This is all aided by the molded heel cup and, whilst it looks rather large, it does a great job of keeping your heel locked into the sole of the shoe when swinging.
It's worth noting how lightweight these shoes are though. Combined with the breathable nature of the upper, these are a great option to wear when the weather gets hot.

If you have never heard of True Linkswear before, they are a relatively fresh brand out of the Pacific Northwest which are truly leaning into the market with their commitment to casual golf shoes that can offer comfort, performance and that all-important wearability off the golf course.
One of their flagship models is the Lux Hybrid which, in testing, provided one of the comfiest performances from any golf shoe on the market. It features a Wanderlux midsole, with the technology soft to the touch but still firm enough underfoot to offer a decent amount of support during the golf swing.
Aesthetically, we think it blends into any kind of environment and, at just 11.2oz, it's also one of the lightest spikeless golf shoes we have tested. Another positive is the fully waterproof knit material on the upper which, although you think it would get soggy quickly, actually wicks off any water and stays bone dry. That being said, we would recommend not wearing these shoes in properly wet or muddy conditions as the overall grip isn't there.

A high-quality and stylish pair of golf shoes, the Air Jordan Low G Golf Shoes are built from genuine leather to deliver extreme comfort on the course. Their classic look pays tribute to the original Air Jordans, first released in the early 80s. But these have been re-designed for golf and feature encapsulated air in the heel cushions that make every step a joy.
While these shoes are designed for use in warmer conditions, they do also come with a 1 year waterproof warranty, which is a great addition as you can never predict when the heavens will open on the course.

How we test spikeless golf shoes
Our golf shoe testing methodology revolves around putting models to the test over a number of rounds and in different conditions. This is so we can gain a better idea of overall performance in terms of factors like grip comfort, grip, stability, waterproofing and how they actually look on the golf course. Each of the shoes listed above has been personally used by a member of the Golf Monthly team and golf shoe testing is headed up by Golf Monthly Staff Writer Dan Parker.
This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on. We think this also gives us information on the little details as well like which brands come up small or large, which models start to rub a bit too much after 36 holes, and which designs can be used off the golf course and for the drive home. We are very comprehensive in our tests to the point where we will regularly attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. That isn't to say manufacturers can buy a good review though, as all our reviews are made by golfers, for golfers.
What to consider when buying spikeless golf shoes
There is a lot to consider when purchasing your next pair of spikeless golf shoes. Modern golf shoes feature a ton of technology that can make picking the right golf shoe for you a difficult decision. But that's why we're here to help. Below we have set out a list of key considerations that you need to keep in mind when purchasing your next pair of spikeless golf shoes.
1. Comfort
As you would expect, comfort is king when it comes to golf shoes. An uncomfortable golf shoe is useless so it is worth trying some models on before you buy so you know what you like the feel of. For example, some models have specific foam technologies or specific sole designs that are designed to house your feet in comfort all day when out on the golf course.
2. Grip/Stability/Traction
Spikeless shoe design has improved massively in these factors. Previously, spiked models were the only way to ensure grip and stability in difficult lies or when the weather makes ground conditions slippery. This is no longer the case because most of the models above have specifically designed traction patterns and lugs to make sure your feet don't slip.
3. Looks
This is entirely subjective but you need to make sure you like the look of your golf shoes and there is a model above for all different types of fashion sense. If you want a traditional design then something like the FootJoy Pro/SL will work well, whereas if you want to stand out a bit more, the adidas Codechaos or Spieth 5 from Under Armour are good choices.
4. Waterproofing
Most golf shoes these days offer a degree of waterproof protection but some are better than others so if you see yourself playing in the rain a lot of models like the Inesis, Ecco or G/FORE are perfect for all-weather play.
5. Sizes
Be wary of different sizes because many brands like Payntr and Nike offer shoes that can come up quite small or large if you have got the wrong size. As such it is worth checking out brand websites to see how the shoes convert to size guides from around the world.
6. Price
The last factor to consider is price. With the models above we have tried to find shoes at all different price points so if you want a cheap model, you can get one. Or if you want to spend more, you can do that too. Importantly there is something for everyone.
While there are some fantastic spikeless golf shoes on the market, you should also check out some of our other guides on the best waterproof golf shoes, best golf shoes for comfort, and our guide to the best spiked golf shoes.
