The M5 GPS features a hi-res 3.5” LCD touchscreen display that can be controlled in all weather conditions, even when wearing a glove. The screen can also give yardages, track scores and the time of your round. Plus you can also adjust pin positions on the screen to help you improve your strategy and get more accurate yardages. Plus what's even cooler here is that if you sign up to Motocaddy's Performance Plan subscription, you'll gain access to advanced course mapping and real-time updates on every course. That was certainly a real highlight for us.
It is powered by a 28.8V drive system – also found on every M-Series model in the range – to enhance efficiency and performance reliability. One of the great things about this cart is that you can fold the trolley away with the battery still attached to it. And while you might think the extensive range of features will easily drain the battery life, we've got some good news for you, as after testing this on the course, we still had well over half of our battery life left, following a full 18. While the features here are excellent, we did find the assembly process a little stiff, but it was very quick to pop the trophy up. Also Motocaddy make some of the best golf push trolleys too so if these electric models seem a bit steep, then push trolleys offer excellent value.

Powakaddy CT8 GPS Electric Trolley
Brand new for 2022, the Powakaddy CT8 GPS is the world's smallest touchscreen GPS golf trolley. It folds down a whopping 35 percent smaller than its nearest competitor and is ideal for those with small car trunks or minimal space to store a trolley at home. The GPS system is the same one we've become used to in Powakaddy devices, but it's on a new and very clear 3.5" full-color touchscreen display which we loved on our testing. We were very impressed at how easy this trolley was to manoeuvre and felt it was one of the best-looking trolleys we've had the pleasure of testing lately.
This makes the GPS very intuitive and easy to use. It also comes with some really useful features such as scorecard, stroke index information, active green view and drop flag to give you accurate yardages on course. We were able to utilise it's features to help us improve our tactics and score better on the course. It also comes preloaded with over 40,000 courses worldwide and requires no subscription.

Stewart Golf Vertx Remote Cart
At first glance, those familiar with the design of Stewart trolleys will notice a lot of similarities and a few refreshments to the overall design. It features a well-designed and efficient two-step folding system that folds up surprisingly compactly considering the 2023 Remote's overall size.
On-course performance is highlighted by a key new technology under the hood of the Vertx Remote that makes it a class leader for remote functionality. It's called Active Terrain Control (ATC) and it's an all-new operating system that is designed to allow the trolley to tackle any sort of landscape or gradient on the golf course. In testing we thought it really performed well, as it tackled some seriously steep slopes with total ease. We also thought the two wheels at the front, performed well in terms of stability and maneuverability too.
Two points worth mentioning are the remote is a bit bulkier than its rivals, but it's still an ergonomic and easy-to-grasp design. Additionally the only thing that the Vertx is lacking versus its competitors from this year is the embedded GPS in the handle.

Best Remote
If you're the type of golfer who loves their gadgets then there are certainly set to be a few products on this guide that will catch your eye, including the Motocaddy M7 GPS Electric Trolley. As golf carts go, this is one of the most exciting carts on the market that delivers a ton of features, from its comprehensive GPS system to its remote control functionality. But most impressive of all is that it gets the basics right. It is a compact and easy to fold trolley and can save you a lot of space, thanks to its convenient folding system that we loved when we took it out for a spin. We felt it could easily hold its own against some of the most compact golf trolleys on the market.
It is an upgrade on its predecessor the M7 Remote, and comes with a new GPS system embedded into the handle. You'll notice the handle is the same, but now comes with a very clear 3.5" touchscreen, which will show all the GPS information you need for your round. Akin to many of the best smartphones on the market, this screen is crystal clear and we found it very responsive, even in wet weather. What we really enjoyed were the features it comes with. It provides front, middle and back distances to the green, dynamic green view with drag and drop pin placement, yardages to hazards, shot distance tracking and a scorecard tracker. It's a seriously comprehensive piece of kit that we loved playing around with.
So how does the trolley perform on the course? Well, let's start with the remote functionality, which is seamless to use. It is controlled by a small ergonomic remote which is responsive and easy to use. We loved walking behind the trolley and were reassured by the responsivity of the remote and the Down Hill Control on offer too, that will keep the trolley going steady up and down the golf course. If you're perhaps a slightly older golfer or are carrying an injury and don't want to push a full bag of clubs around all day, this is a fantastic option for you!

Stewart Golf Q Follow Trolley
Stewart Golf has been making some of the best electric golf trolleys for years now so it comes as no surprise the Q Follow is in this list. It can follow you around the course at your walking pace from a safe distance thanks to the unique functionality built into the Bluetooth handset. Perhaps one of the coolest golf gadgets ever made, the Q Follow allows players to walk off and let their trolley follow them around the course, which makes it a great option for those that may struggle to want to push or hold their trolley as they play.
A completely new frame design, which has a unique marble-effect finish, allows it to fold down much more compactly while an integrated carry handle makes it easier to lift into your car. It is worth noting that it is pretty heavy compared to some of the electric options featured on our best compact trolleys guide. There’s also a new retractable stabilizer comprising two wheels, which automatically deploys as the trolley is unfolded and is one of our personal highlights on this cart that keeps it upright throughout your round. You also don't have to remove the battery to store the trolley - another great feature we discovered during testing, but you will have to remove it to charge it.

PowaKaddy RX1 GPS Electric Trolley
A stunning golf cart that we enjoyed testing out on the golf course the PowaKaddy RX1 GPS Electric Trolley is by far one of the best remote controlled trolleys on the market and is packed full of features that'll help you perform better on the golf course. This is one of the most responsive models we've tested recently, and looks fantastic too. It has a stealthy matte finish that features pops of yellow detailling, making this one of the best looking remote trolleys in the market.
That premium feel translates well onto the 3.5" full-color touchscreen display that you can use to operate the GPS system. As standard, the GPS will show you distances to the front, middle and back of the green as well as any hazards on the hole. You can also view the stroke index of the hole you are on while the GPS automatically switches holes when it recognises you are on the next tee - a really handy addition that we loved. You'll also be able to benefit from digital scorecards, a shot measuring feature and drop flag technology, which all worked seamlessly with the responsive display.
During our testing sessions, we loved the remote functionality on offer here with this trolley boasting some very cool tech, including PowaKaddy's Slope Traverse Assist, which kept the cart running in a straight line down steeper gradients. A built in breaking system was also welcomed and that helped the trolley remain steady on undulating terrain. Lastly, we loved how easy it was to pack away. The Chassis breaks down and folds onto the battery area and we loved the slim shape it compacts into. Overall, the RX1 GPS really delivers on everything we think the best golf carts should do.

MGI Zip Navigator Remote Electric Trolley
The Zip Navigator is very stable across all terrain and we quickly grew confident that, whatever part of the golf course we sent it scurrying across, we’d arrive next to our ball with our trolley and bag waiting.
The excellent stability is in part thanks to the rear 4th wheel which keeps the trolley from tipping backwards if it goes up a steep incline. It also features downhill speed control – a feature that stops it going too quickly down steep hills – which adds to the confident stability of the trolley. The remote has a ‘lock’ button that stops any buttons being unwillingly pressed while in your pocket and you can invert the wheels when folding it down to save on storage space. All in all, it's a very well rounded offering at a competitive price.

Best GPS
Motocaddy are renowned for their expertise in the electric golf trolley market and following on from the success of the S1 cart, released in 2022, they have bounced back with an upgrade in the form of the the new S5 GPS Model. It boasts several exciting features that will make it a hit for anyone who loves gadgets or some of the best golf accessories on the market. Both models still do share a lot of similarities, including the one-step folding system that sees the S5 fold into a pretty compact shape. That is still a lot larger than some of the most compact golf trolleys out there, and is something to be weary of if you don't have a lot of space in the boot of your car.
One of the highlights about that folding mechanism is that you can charge the trolley's lithium battery while the cart is folded down. That is a really convenient feature that should mean you'll never forget your battery when you arrive at the course with the cart. The assembly process is also very similar. Having tested the trolley over several rounds, all you need to do is press the blue button on the chassis and the S5 conveniently pops up in one swift movement. It does have a large footprint, which makes it very stable even when you've loaded one of the best golf cart bags onto it. We found it performed seamlessly on undulating terrain around the golf course.
The technology in this cart is also pretty impressive. It comes with a fully integrated GPS system that you can access through a 3.5" LCD touchscreen. It features a Dynamic Green View that matches the hole being played and gives you accurate yardages to wherever you want to play to. While we've found some touchscreen displays on some of the best GPS golf watches to be a little unresponsive at times, the screen here was brilliant and felt like a modern-day smartphone. The last thing to note is that it comes with nine speed settings and an Adjustable Distance Control of up to 60 yards. Loading our bag on the trolley was super seamless too, thanks to the brand's Easilock bag-to-trolley system, which made this a very efficient piece of kit to use.

Motocaddy M3 GPS Electric Trolley
Sitting somewhere in the middle of its extensive line-up, we felt that the M3 GPS electric trolley could act as the perfect entry point for newcomers to the trolley game seeking strategic assistance, or it could just as easily suit those looking for a premium product that comes in at a more digestible price point.
There are many stand-out features when it comes to the electric trolley, one of which is how compact it is when folded down. Its official dimensions are 650mm (L) x 470mm (W) x 410mm (H) and, when we tested it out, it seemed to easily fit in a small trunk with plenty of room to spare for a set of clubs. The wheels can also be inverted, or come off altogether, should you need to squeeze it into an even tighter spot.
Lastly, along with the simple setting-up process, it is crammed with technology, such as the nine speed settings, speed indicator and Adjustable Distance Control, which can set the trolley off towards the next tee, up to 60 yards, in five-yard increments. What was most impressive though was the 2.8" LCD touchscreen display, which is super clear, can track your shots and also comes with 40,000 pre-loaded courses.

Best Entry Level
The new look Motocaddy S1 for 2022 has revived the iconic moniker from Motocaddy and created a simple but powerful electric trolley that is 16% smaller than previous models in the S Series. Having taken it for a whizz around the course, we found it to be incredibly easy to fold up. The new S1 uses Motocaddy's easiest ever folding system, and we loved that we could pop it up and down in one easy step.
One of the highlights of this trolley is the newly positioned Click 'N' Connect battery which is cable-free and automatically disconnects when the trolley is folded up. This allows the battery to be charged without having to ever take it off the chassis. It's as reliable and easy-to-use as you'd expect from a Motocaddy, with a clear display and ergonomic control knob making for a very enjoyable experience out on course.

Alphard Club Booster V2
You may be wondering what the Alphard Club Booster V2 is? Well, this unique product, which made our 2023 Editor's Choice List, allows you to convert an ordinary push cart into a remote one, it's that simple!
In testing, the assembly was slightly fiddly but, once assembled, you won't have to do it again. Attaching the Booster via two clamps, it becomes the rear wheels of your push cart and, in particular, we were extremely impressed with how quickly the Bluetooth remote paired.
Not only does the wide base give this amazing stability over a number of terrains, but the integrated 6-axis gyroscope detects said terrain of the golf course every 10 milliseconds. This helps make sure the cart is always pointing in the right direction and, in testing, we were amazed with how accurately we could control the Club Booster V2 and how responsive it was.

PowaKaddy FX3 Electric Trolley
The FX3 is PowaKaddy's 'entry-level' model, meaning it offers golfers the simplest form of an electric trolley with a 9-speed power system, a 2.3" color display, lightweight lithium battery and one click folding system. It may be bare bones when it comes to features, but this is all a lot of golfers want and need and may be an excellent purchase if you're deliberating whether to go for a PowaKaddy or Motocaddy trolley.
We were able to benefit from this trolley's super-simple one click folding system when we put it to the test on the golf course. It really is as slick as it sounds and by clicking on one button mid-way up the chassis of the FX3, you can guide both sections of the the trolley down into its folded up state. The only issue we had was that the single wheel at the front doesn't fold in, which can be a bit of a problem if you're looking for a more compact trolley.
It also comes with PowaKaddy's 'plug and play' lightweight lithium battery that ticks a lot of boxes compared to many of the other cumbersome batteries on the course. Overall, it's a very solid entry-level electric trolley and we loved how easy it was to use on the golf course. While it lacks the excitement of more expensive models, the FX3 does what it was set out to do perfectly. The one click folding system is a massive highlight and the FX3 is proof that electric trolleys can be a hassle-free addition to your golf equipment.

When it comes to testing golf gear, let alone golf trolleys and carts, Golf Monthly has a comprehensive testing procedure built around using the products properly, thoroughly, and over a number of rounds and golf experiences. That way we can produce proper reviews that help you make an informed decision regarding possibly buying a certain model. Getting down to specifics, we should first say that no manufacturer can pay for a good review, because we tell it how it is.
We should also say that before testing even begins, the Golf Monthly team will usually attend product launches and meet with the manufacturer’s R&D experts to understand the new technology. With how much technology is in electric trolleys these days, we think having an understanding of what a particular model can do is very important. Are electric golf trolleys worth it?
There is no sugar-coating it, electric trolley's are a big investment but we have found that the models above have really helped golfers physically. Going from carrying a heavy bag on the shoulders and back, to using an electric trolley is truly illuminating as to how much effort it saves. Indeed this point can also be applied to people differently not only because of golfers wanting to spend money at different price points, but also we all have varying physical capabilities and all play on contrasting courses. For example if a player has a bad back and plays on a hilly golf course, then an electric trolley will definitely be worth every penny. Whilst a golfer who is fit and healthy and plays on a flat course, despite undoubtedly also saving physical exertion, may not get as much out of an electric model.
What accessories should I get with my electric trolley?
There are a wide range of accessories available on electric trolley's these days and there are some we regard as more important than others. First we would always recommend a rain cover, as well as an umbrella holder for when the weather turns nasty. A holder for a GPS device and a drink is also a must have because we should always remain hydrated on the course.
Should I buy a push cart or electric cart?
That depends on your preferences and budget. Ultimately, electric carts are a lot more expensive than push carts meaning that they are better for those who play regularly. But don't rule them out entirely as you can find some very good and ergonomic options, that can be great for any player.
